the task force - formation and objectives

Well, some great parents decided to take the envelope further in the interests of all kids and call for a meeting of all the parents of Billabong Mahim. The idea was to apprise the parents the grave danger of the possibility of our school not getting any sort of affiliation from the education board. While this might be only a temporary phase in the process of affiliation, given the potential danger of the actual event, the parents are suitably distressed.

The meeting was held on 12th December 06. It was well attended. The key points of the meeting was to form a core team of 15 – 20 parents ready to devote time and energies to understand the problem and rectify it. The key idea behind the task force is that this task force (TF) would sit with the management and try and understand, assist and resolve the issue as opposed to creating an opposite force. The idea is of co-opting and not about attacking. We believe that the school would like to keep up to its vision.

Therefore the compelling argument would be in the school authorities meeting this group of people – Parents Association of Billabong, Mahim(PAB Mahim), to resolve issues and disseminate information to all instead of talking to a potentially volatile audience of 500 – 800 parents. The TF also seeks to help the school in all assistance that it requires from the parents.

The first step is for PAB Mahim to seek an audience with Ms. Leena, Ms. Juhi and Mr. Haq at a common forum and get to the root of the issue and its status of the work in progress.

Further decisions would be taken considering scenarios as they play out.
